Contract Description:
The South Bachelor Island Wetland Connection and Habitat Restoration project establishes connectivity between the Columbia River and 39 acres of off-channel wetland habitat. The project will enhance a wetland lagoon feature created by dredge material placement in shallow water channel habitat by removing placed materials, controlling invasive vegetation species, and planting native wetland vegetation. The project location is significant in its position along the mainstem at the downstream end of Reach F, approaching Reach E. These reaches, as well as Reach G and H upstream, provide very little opportunity to access off-channel habitat from the mainstem.
